Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

Last updated: May 2026

Short version: We collect only the information needed to match students with tutors and confirm bookings. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We use reputable third-party services (Airtable, Formspree) to operate the platform — see Section 4 for details.

1. Who We Are

Bright Path Academy ("we," "us," "our") is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates a free online tutoring platform. Our website and services are located at brightpathacademy.org. Questions about this policy can be submitted through our contact page.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information only when you actively provide it to us. We do not use tracking pixels, behavioral advertising, or third-party analytics that profile users.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate the tutoring platform:

  • Booking confirmation: To confirm your session, send reminders, and provide the tutor with necessary session details.
  • Tutor–student matching: To display available tutors and sessions to students seeking help.
  • Platform communication: To respond to contact form inquiries or support requests.
  • Newsletter: To send occasional updates about new sessions, study resources, and charity news — only to subscribers who opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Volunteer tutor management: To review tutor applications and manage tutor availability.
  • Internal reporting: To track aggregate, anonymised session statistics (e.g., total sessions completed) to measure our nonprofit impact. We do not share individual records in these reports.

We will never use your information for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to the operation of this platform.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy and data practices:

  • Airtable (airtable.com) — Our database. Session bookings, tutor slots, and booking records are stored in Airtable. Data is stored in the United States. Airtable Privacy Policy →
  • Formspree (formspree.io) — Processes contact, donation, tutor application, and newsletter form submissions and delivers them to our inbox. Formspree Privacy Policy →
  • Cloudflare Pages / Cloudflare Workers (cloudflare.com) — Hosts this website and our API. Cloudflare may log technical request data in accordance with their privacy policy. Cloudflare Privacy Policy →
  • Zoom (zoom.us) — Used to conduct live tutoring sessions. Zoom is not integrated with this website; tutor-provided meeting links are shared directly. Zoom Privacy Policy →
  • Google Fonts / Font Awesome — Used to load fonts and icons. These services may log IP addresses as part of delivering resources. No personal session data is shared with them.

We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not share your data with any party other than the service providers listed above, and only to the extent necessary to operate the platform.

5. Data Retention

We retain booking and tutor records for a reasonable period to manage ongoing sessions, issue community service hour records, and produce anonymised impact statistics. We do not maintain a formal deletion schedule, but you may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us (see Section 9). We will make commercially reasonable efforts to honor such requests.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Our services are intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete that information promptly.

For users between 13 and 17, we encourage parents and guardians to review this Privacy Policy and the session booking process with their child. By permitting a minor to use our services, the parent or guardian consents to the data practices described in this policy.

7. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the personal information we collect, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access-controlled database storage via Airtable, and limited internal access to personal data.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage users not to share sensitive personal information (e.g., Social Security numbers, financial account details) through our forms.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights with respect to your personal data, including:

  • The right to access the personal information we hold about you.
  • The right to request correction of inaccurate information.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information.
  • The right to opt out of non-essential communications (e.g., newsletter).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our contact page. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests related to this Privacy Policy, please reach out through our contact page. We take privacy inquiries seriously and will respond promptly.
