Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking or applying.

For Students

Yes, absolutely. Our tutors are all volunteers and our platform has no paid staff, so we pass zero costs to students. Booking a session is free. There are no subscriptions, no hidden charges, and no premium tiers. If you'd like to support us, you can make an optional donation to one of our partner charities — but it is never required.
Visit our Booking Calendar, browse available dates and sessions, filter by subject if you'd like, and click "Book This Session" on any open slot. Fill in your name and email, and you're confirmed. You'll receive a Zoom link by email within 1 hour.
No account needed. Just pick a session from the calendar, fill in your name and email, and you're booked. That's it.
Standard sessions are 1 hour. Some tutors offer extended 90-minute sessions for intensive exam prep — these are marked on the calendar. If you need more time, you can always book consecutive slots with the same tutor.
All sessions are held online via Zoom. After booking, you'll receive a Zoom link by email. All you need is a laptop, tablet, or phone with a working camera and internet connection.
Yes! We encourage it. Just visit the calendar and book the same tutor's recurring open slots. If you'd like a guaranteed recurring slot, email us and we'll do our best to connect you with a tutor who can commit to a regular schedule.
Please cancel at least 2 hours before your session so the slot can be released to other students. You can cancel by replying to your confirmation email or contacting us. We understand that things come up — we just ask for courtesy cancellations so tutors' time is respected.
We primarily serve middle school through high school students (grades 6–12). We also welcome college students and adult learners, particularly for SAT/GRE prep or English writing help. There are no restrictions.

For Tutors

High school juniors and seniors, college students, graduate students, and adult professionals are all welcome. You need a strong academic background in the subject(s) you want to tutor and at least 2 hours of availability per week. See our full requirements.
Yes. We track every session you hold and issue official community service hour certificates upon request. These are recognized by most high schools, National Honor Society chapters, and college application platforms. Email us anytime to request yours.
After you're approved and complete onboarding, you'll receive access to the tutor portal where you can post your open time slots. Slots you add appear on the public booking calendar immediately.
We ask for a minimum of 2 hours per week to maintain student continuity, but we're flexible. If you have an especially busy period (finals, application season), just update your availability in the portal. We only ask that you don't leave students in the lurch without notice.
